FIRST MEETING IN MAY

Wednesday 5th May 2010


Tonight’s talk is “Hand Rearing Discus Fry” by Jon Buckley. Jon is about to complete his PhD at the University working on Discus behaviour. Jon has donated some of his juvenile Discus to our auctions and what stunning specimens they are. This will be a terrific evening, so come along and find out how you can hand rear your own Discus.

SECOND MEETING IN APRIL

Wednesday 12th May 2010

The "Short Talk" this evening will be on “The Home Aquarium and Pond
Competition”. Tonight’s hosts are Tom Williamson, our Show Secretary and Andy Cann. This should be a good evening with some DVD examples.

Question Time will occur at the end of the evening.

The latest edition of the Society’s magazine (Spring Edition) is out now. To get your copy see Stan McMahon.

SOCIETY WEB SITE

The Web Master has certainly got the site running well with regular features and the current Newsletter can be found when you visit our site (which now has over 1,400 hits). Carol Cann is looking into establishing a “Fish Forum” on
to our web site, more information on this development when it is up and running.

B.B.Q. 2010

Ray and Di Andrews have kindly offered to host this years B.B.Q. It will be held on 12th June 2010. Times and how to get there will be discussed at future meetings and through the Newsletter. After last year’s great success, there is
talk of organising a minibus to get there. So watch this space.

Last months Bonus Ball winner was number 45. The winner was Ted Burnett.

Table Show 14th.April 2010

Dwarf Cichlids (2 Entries):

1st. Barrie Kitchinman Apisto. cruzi 73 points
2nd. Barrie Kitchinman P. pulcher 67 points

Judges Assessment: Average

Siamese Fighting Fish (1 Entry):

1st. Barrie Kitchinman Betta splendens 77 points

Best in Show: Barrie Kitchinman with his Betta splendens.

Judges Assessment: Standard good.

Judge was Dr. Dave Price.

Tom’s Remarks: Once again our stalwart holds the fort with no other
entrants, thanks for his loyal support.
